NIGC: A Celebration of Passion and Expertise
Since its establishment in 2015, the North of Italy Gloster Club (NIGC) has been at the forefront of promoting and preserving the Gloster Fancy in the region. Under the dedicated leadership of Fabrizio Ioppolo, the club has worked diligently to align with the standards set by the GFCC-UK, fostering a structured and professional approach that has strengthened the Gloster Fancy community in Italy.
The North of Italy Gloster Show was a remarkable event, bringing together exhibitors, judges and enthusiasts in an environment that was both highly technical and welcoming.
A defining feature of the show was the educational atmosphere fostered by experienced participants. I was so pleased to play a pivotal role in this, encouraging questions and discussions throughout the judging process. This approach not only provided valuable insights but also reinforced the importance of continuous learning within the community. Despite the length of the judging session, the engaging discussions and shared passion among attendees made the experience enriching for all.
The novice section was particularly impressive, with several exhibits displaying quality that rivalled the more experienced categories. The remarkable standard of birds, highlighted the depth of talent within the community and underscored the importance of nurturing new breeders to sustain the Gloster Fancy’s legacy.
Following the judging, I had the chance to address the exhibitors, sharing my thoughts on the global challenges facing the Gloster Fancy, believe it or not they made me do it in Italian 😂😂😂. I tried to emphasise the necessity of adhering to official breed standards to maintain consistency and excellence. My words served as both a reflection on current concerns and a call for action for breeders worldwide.
I consider this experience as a success, a testament to the dedication and collaborative spirit of its participants. I believe that with a focus on education, camaraderie and the highest standards of excellence, every event should emulate NIGC’s ongoing commitment to the advancement of the Gloster Fancy, both in Italy and beyond.
