A Landmark Judging Experience at the Somerset All Gloster Show
On November 3, 2013, the Somerset All Gloster Show was held at Abbeymore Stadium, Glastonbury, drawing fanciers from across the UK, including the Midlands, Cornwall, Sussex, Kent and the Isle of Wight. With a strong entry of 526 exhibits, the event showcased the dedication and enthusiasm of the Gloster Fancy community.
It was an incredibly special moment for me as I was invited to join the judging panel, marking my first international judging experience. This opportunity also carried historical significance, as I became the first Maltese fancier to judge an all-Gloster show overseas. Sharing the judging responsibilities with esteemed judges Dave Thomas and Andrew Jones, was both an honour and an invaluable learning experience.
The atmosphere at the event was one of camaraderie, passion and excellence. The high standard of competition reflected the commitment of breeders and exhibitors, who had meticulously prepared their birds for this prestigious show. Every entry was a testament to the skill and dedication of the fanciers involved.
This milestone in my journey within the Gloster Fancy world remains a cherished experience. It reinforced my passion for the breed and my commitment to upholding the highest standards in judging. The Somerset All Gloster Show will always hold a special place in my heart, not only as a significant personal achievement but also as a celebration of the international unity within the Gloster community.
