“A superb show with a unique twist and a true family atmosphere”
Gloster Judges: Mario Zahra & Keith Baker
Norwich Judge: Keith Ferry
Staged in a truly unique airfield setting, with beautifully restored WWII aircraft alongside the exhibits, this remarkable show provided an unforgettable experience for judges and fanciers alike. Access to such an exceptional venue was made possible through the efforts of Giustino Puca, while the event itself was driven by the vision and leadership of Fabrizio Ioppolo and his dedicated committee.
The organisation was of the highest standard, with every detail carefully managed, creating a welcoming environment where exhibitors and visitors felt part of one large Gloster family. The North of Italy Gloster Club continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to preserving the breed in line with Gloster Fancy Canary Club standards, reflecting the increasingly professional approach within the Italian fancy.
This year’s show attracted 572 entries (435 Glosters and 137 Norwich), with international participation from France and Tunisia, represented by Bruno Chetta (FR), Yassin Dridi, Imed Ghannem, and Riadh Talmoudi (TN), further underlining its growing global appeal. The overall quality of the birds was impressive, with winning exhibits consistently displaying the desired type and refinement, clearly showing that breeding and judging are well aligned.
Fabrizio Ioppolo once again led the honours, securing Best Gloster in Show along with multiple major awards. In the Novice section, Ferruccio Gamba delivered an outstanding performance, while several other exhibitors achieved notable success across a wide range of classes. In the Norwich section, judged by Keith Ferry, Fabrizio dominated the Champion classes, while Andrea Sghedoni showed great promise in the Novice section.
With its exceptional venue, strong organisation, high-quality exhibits, and international participation, the North of Italy Gloster & Norwich Canary Show 2026 stands out as one of the most impressive and enjoyable events on the European calendar—successfully combining professionalism with a genuine family atmosphere.
